Think you have embarrassing feet? Don't Be Embarrassed By Your Feet!

Embarrassing Feet

If You Are Ashamed and Embarrassed By Your Feet…

Although it may sound trivial or comical to some, being embarrassed by your feet – believing or thinking you have ugly feet to the point you don’t want to reveal them – can cause more than just physical discomfort. For many people, the emotional cost of having what they feel are embarrassing feet is even worse.

How Do You Know If You Need Help?

  • Do you always feel like people are staring at your feet?
  • Are you always thinking to yourself, “I’m so ashamed of my feet!”
  • Are you mortified to have them seen by members of the opposite sex? Or by anyone?
  • Are you sick and tired of hiding them?
  • Do you frequently experience pain when you wear shoes that aren’t comfortable or don’t fit correctly, but do it anyway?
  • Have you made a decision to forego beach trips with friends or summer social occasions because you don’t want to show your feet?
  • Are you always wearing slippers, socks, or shoes in your own house, for instance, in case anyone comes by?

It can be extremely difficult – if not impossible – for women to enjoy wearing light and comfortable summer shoes when they suffer from unattractive corns, tough, hard callouses, yellowed or misshapen toenails and bunions that cause unsightly bumps on the feet. Not to mention terrible foot pain. Finding fashionable shoes for ugly feet isn’t as easy as you may think…simple things such as walking on the beach, going to the pool, or finding shoes to wear with dresses and formal wear can be next to impossible.

The Personal Cost of Hating Your Feet

Particularly for women, being ashamed of your feet can escalate to a significant degree. If you’re one of those women you know who you are…your husband may not have even touched your feet, no matter how long you’ve been married. Salon pedicures? Forget it!

Short of drastic measures that can include foot surgery, the hard truth is that the best option is to make peace with the fact you have to live with feet you think are ugly! The good news? Making the best of what you’ve got is something we have all done at one time or another. You may have had to learn to choose haircuts that make your fine, thin hair look awesome. Perhaps you have had breast implants, a Botox treatment, or have worked hard to lose some weight and get fit. That fact is, making the most of embarrassing feet is actually a lot less difficult – and at least as rewarding – as some of those beauty measures.

The Altitude of your Attitude Matters

You will find that being meticulous and consistent with your foot care regimen only helps as time goes on. The more your feet relax, the better they look and feel. Making a commitment to daily foot care and strategies to reduce imperfections can really make a difference in how you feel about your feet. Honest!

Try this. The next time you go to a nice restaurant during the summer, attend a wedding, hit the beach, or browse the aisles of your favorite high-end clothing store, observe. Take note of the women you see whose feet are FAR from perfect. You will see women with corns, bunions, stubby toes, hammer toes, stubby toenails…all of it. What you may notice is that they have 3 things in common:

  1. They take care of their feet, moisturizing, removing calluses, making sure they have excellent nail care and polish, either at home or by getting regular pedicures.
  2. They unabashedly wear pretty shoes. Sandals, open toe pumps, sexy heels.
  3. They are 100% confident. They aren’t hiding their feet, nervous about them or trying to draw your attention away from them.

One of the truths about men and women who struggle and are embarrassed by their feet is that the more you fret about it, feed needless fear and shame, the worse it gets.

A Word About Men & Ugly Feet

Men are not immune to the same feelings of shame and embarrassment when they deal with toenail fungus, veiny feet or misshapen toes. They get foot shamed also. The ramifications of believing you have ugly feet know no limits! (There is even a term for extreme cases of foot phobia, called podophobia.)
